Eric Comstock

From nightclubs to concerts to the Off-Broadway theatre, Eric Comstock has earned praise for his interpretations of popular songs by Cole Porter, the Gershwins, Rodgers and Hart, Ellington, Strayhorn and other masters of jazz and pop music. The New Yorker called him "an icon in the making."

Eric has appeared regularly at the legendary jazz club, Birdland, as well as the Algonquin Hotel’s Oak Room, Feinstein’s at the Regency, The Supper Club, and in concerts at Alice Tully Hall, Weill Recital Hall, Merkin Hall, the 92nd Street Y’s Jazz in July series (directed by Dick Hyman), and Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series. Eric made his Carnegie Hall debut in June 2003, as part of the JVC Jazz Festival.

Eric co-wrote the long-running Off-Broadway hit, Our Sinatra, and starred in it for the first year of its 1,300-performance run. In addition, Eric co-wrote and appears in Made For the Movies: A Hollywood Songbook, a critically acclaimed jazz spin on American film music, with jazz vocal legend Bill Henderson and jazz vocalist/pianist Dena DeRose.

Eric has appeared or been profiled on CBS’s The Early Show, CNN’s Showbiz Today, NPR’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross and Jazz Set with Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Public Radio International’s The Next Big Thing with Dean Olsher.

An arranger and songwriter, Eric’s song, "When, Baby, When?" was featured in the 2003 film, Teknolust, which starred Tilda Swinton.

Eric’s CDs include Young Man of Manhattan, All Hart, and the newly released No One Knows, which has an all-star jazz ensemble including Frank Wess, Wycliffe Gordon, Eric Reed, Peter Bernstein, Peter Washington and Matt Wilson. No One Knows features standards such as "Imagination," "Don’t Get Around Much Anymore" and "Old Devil Moon." The title song is a Billy Strayhorn rarity given its first recording.
