Four Freshmen

"Some musical groups survive and even flourish, year after year, decade after decade. The Four Freshmen have endured for the simple reason that they are tops in their class." -Charles Osgood, Commentator, CBS Sunday Morning

The Four Freshmen are a vocal jazz quartet, a rhythm section, and a brass section all at once. Ever since the group's beginnings in the 1950's, The Four Freshmen have always set themselves apart from other groups by performing high level vocal jazz harmonies while acting as their own rhythm section.

The Four Freshmen bring to the audience the excitement of seing and the beauty of ballads. And they do it with their unique and powerful brand of Freshmen harmony.

Recently, the CBS "Sunday Morning" show profiled The Four Freshmen's long history and profound effect on American jazz and pop music. No other vocal group has been more copied. Acts as diverse as The Beach Boys, The Mamas And The Papas, The Lettermen of the 60's, and The Manhattan Transfer of the 70's emulated their sound.

Though they have a strong history behind them, The Four Freshmen are not, nor have they ever been, a group centered on nostalgia. The group continues to tour throughout the world, performing a mixture of old favorites, such as "It's a Blue World" and "Route 66," and many brand new arrangements, such as "Get Out Of Town" and "Where Do You Start." By fusing some of the classic tunes that many fans know and love with exciting new arrangements, the current group carries on the strong tradition of musical excellence and integrity that has been synonymous with the Four Freshmen since the very beginning.

As a self-accompanying group, The Freshmen are uniquely sophisticated in their level of vocal harmony. They play guitar, keyboard, bass, drums, trombone and trumpet, but they also step from behind their instruments to sing in front of big bands and symphony orchestras.

In addition to appearing in concert, The Freshmen enjoy sharing their performance experience with students and teachers at vocal and instrumental clinics.

You'll find The Four Freshmen performing on concert stages, in club-cabarets, at conventions, and any venue where exciting music belongs!
