Lenny Marcus Trio

Lenny Marcus hails from Washington, D.C. and worked for many years in New Orleans and south Louisiana. While there, Lenny had the opportunity to study with world-renowned jazz educator Alvin Batiste at Southern University, as well as the legendary jazz pianist Ellis Marsalis, among others. Perhaps the greatest influences came, however, from the strong left-handed, blues-oriented pianist Ray Bryant, to whom Lenny grew up listening, as well as the more modern, modal approach of McCoy Tyner. His bluesy, vocal phrasings remind the listener of a young Mose Allison, with a little Michael Franks mixed in. Lenny also brings his own unique style, providing a fresh, innovative, and highly creative approach to the jazz listener.

Ed Mikenas is originally from New York where he studied bass with Ron Carter and arranging with Manny Albam. He has a Masters degree from the Manhattan School of Music and has toured with Skitch Henderson (director of the original "Tonight Show" band) as well as appeared in numerous Broadway shows such as "Pippin", "Godspell" and "The Magic Show". He has performed on "Saturday Night Live" with Esther Phillips and received standing ovations at the Apollo Theater with this group. He has worked with many superb and eclectic musicians throughout the years including Sonny Fortune, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddily, Scarlet Rivera, Ornette Coleman, Roy Haynes, Herb Ellis, Terry Gibbs, and Jack Wilkins.

Peter Ingram, formerly from London, England, has been a central figure on the jazz scene in the Raleigh-Durham area for many years. His band, "Group Sax", has recorded three albums, won several prestigious awards, and toured the Southeast extensively. He has worked with many jazz greats including Stan Getz, Clark Terry, Zoot Sims, Bud Shank, and Buddy DeFranco to name a few. Recording credits include dates with pianist Sir Roland Hanna, guitarist Charlie Byrd, saxaphonist Frank Foster and Sonny Fortune, and vocalist Carol Sloane.
